Brian Monahan Exits Albertsons Media Collective as Retail Media Unit Moves Under CMO
Brian Monahan, hired in late July to lead Albertsons Media Collective, has left the grocery chain's retail media business. The unit now reports to Albertsons chief marketing officer Emily Turner, effective immediately.
Business partners were informed of the change on Friday, and the move was subsequently confirmed by a company spokesperson and two agency executives. The reorganization of the retail media operation took effect straight away.
Albertsons Media Collective now reports to chief marketing officer Emily Turner. Turner, in turn, reports to Michelle Larson, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Albertsons.
In a release issued on Friday, Larson moved to reassure business partners about the leadership changes and about the decision to place media and marketing capabilities inside the same organization as merchandising.
The company did not say whether Monahan's post as senior vice president of Albertsons Media Collective would be filled. It is also unclear why the position is being folded into the new structure.
A company spokesperson said Monahan played a key role in building the retail media business into an important and growing part of Albertsons, thanking him for his leadership and wishing him continued success.
Monahan had been brought on in late July to head the retail media arm of the grocery retailer.
