Writer launches Palmyra X6 AI model and revamped harness to cut token costs
Writer has introduced Palmyra X6, a flagship AI model built on Z.ai's open-source GLM-5.2, along with upgraded agentic harness infrastructure. The company says the combination could reduce customer costs by up to 50% for basic tasks.
On Thursday, Writer, a provider of AI tools and agents for marketers, unveiled its new flagship model, Palmyra X6. The model is a post-training variation of Z.ai's open-source GLM-5.2 and is designed to deliver deployment-ready capabilities at a significantly lower price point.
Alongside the model, Writer released substantial upgrades to its standard agentic harness. The company estimates that the new model and harness changes together will cut costs for customers by as much as 50% for basic tasks, addressing growing concerns across the industry about the expense of AI deployments.
The updated harness places particular emphasis on handling complex, multi-step tasks faster and with fewer tokens. Writer sees harness optimization as a crucial lever for achieving cost reductions while maintaining performance.
CEO May Habib said, "I think the enterprise is absolutely sick of chasing the next benchmark. They want flattening cost, and it seems like nobody can deliver that."
Both the new model and the upgraded harness are available to Writer clients starting Thursday.
