Woman joins lawsuit alleging Grok turned childhood photo into explicit images
A woman known as Jane Doe 4 has joined a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI, alleging her stepfather used the Grok chatbot to create more than 7,000 explicit images from a childhood photo. The suit, filed by three Tennessee teens, accuses the company of failing to prevent the AI tool from generating images of minors.
Jane Doe 4, a new plaintiff in a lawsuit against xAI, said her stepfather used the company’s Grok chatbot to manipulate a photograph of her into more than 7,000 explicit images. The original photo was taken when she was 11 years old.
The images were discovered during a law enforcement raid, and her stepfather died by suicide two days later, according to the complaint. The woman said unrestricted access to AI tools is spreading rapidly and turning everyday life into child sexual abuse material.
The lawsuit was originally brought by three Tennessee teenagers. It accuses xAI, which is now part of SpaceX, of failing to take basic precautions to prevent Grok from generating sexualized images of real people, including minors.
The plaintiffs are seeking class action status. The case follows reports that X was flooded with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images earlier this year.
