VI Peel Hits 20 Million Treatments Without Outside Capital
Vitality Institute's skin-tone-inclusive VI Peel has surpassed 20 million treatments while remaining family-owned and funded by profitable growth. CEO Marya Khalil-Otto explains the company's focus on practitioner education.
Vitality Institute, the family-owned maker of the professional VI Peel, has reached a milestone of 20 million treatments without ever accepting outside investment. The company says the achievement underscores its commitment to a slower, more sustainable path in an aesthetics industry often driven by institutional cash.
Central to that strategy is training the practitioners who perform the peel. Vitality Institute operates an online academy where med-spa owners, plastic surgeons, and dermatologists can enroll staff in courses and print certificates, helping them battle common issues like team turnover and inconsistent training.
Beyond the digital curriculum, the company hosts two-day Elevate events that are free to practitioners, with a stated value of $1,500. The sessions cover not only VI Peel techniques but also how to combine the treatment with other procedures, and marketing guidance on promotions and social media.
With roughly 8,000 active accounts, the company says education also helps standardize results and build community. Khalil-Otto, who admits she is not fond of public speaking, shares her personal story at these gatherings to remind attendees that aesthetics work can be transformative beyond vanity.
The approach appears to be paying off: Khalil-Otto said that even longtime users of the peel learn something new, and that confident practitioners ultimately help the brand grow.
