Travelex opens landside store at Hamad International as Doha network widens

The foreign exchange operator has added a landside outlet at Hamad International Airport, expanded its presence at a busy Doha metro station and opened a remittance-focused branch in Matar Qadeem. Travelex now runs 15 locations at the Qatari hub.

The new landside outlet brings Travelex's total footprint at Hamad International Airport to 15 sites, a mix of traditional bureaux placed along key passenger routes and mobile, dual-sided currency exchange kiosks.

The addition follows continued growth in traffic at the Doha gateway, which handled 54.3 million passengers in 2025, a rise of 3% year on year.

Elsewhere in the city, Travelex has more than doubled its customer service points at Doha Al Jadeda metro station, taking the count from three to seven. The store first opened in 2022 and sits on one of the capital's busiest metro corridors.

The company has also unveiled a branch in the Matar Qadeem district that concentrates on remittance services, with the operator saying customers there can send money to more than 350,000 destinations worldwide.

Batu Dölay, Travelex Managing Director for the Middle East, Türkiye and Southeast Asia, said that despite recent challenges Qatar continues to show strong long-term momentum in international travel, and that the new openings put the business in position to serve rising demand at key locations.
