Tigerair Taiwan Opens Tigerhop Platform to Sell Scoot Flights Through Its Own Channels
Tigerair Taiwan has teamed up with travel technology firm Dohop to launch Tigerhop, a booking platform that lets the Taiwanese low-cost carrier sell seats on Singapore-based Scoot's network without adding aircraft or signing a traditional interline deal.
The Taiwanese low-cost carrier said the platform is designed to connect its own route map with partner networks, selling the resulting multi-carrier journeys directly through Tigerair Taiwan's booking channels rather than routing customers through a conventional interline or codeshare arrangement.
Tigerhop's first connections pair Taipei and Da Nang with Singapore on Scoot, with onward links to Japanese destinations including Akita, Hanamaki and Tottori. The technology comes from Iceland-based travel technology company Dohop.
Airlines have historically expanded their networks either by adding flights or by striking interline and codeshare agreements with other carriers. Tigerair Taiwan is testing a third path: marketing and selling another airline's flights as part of its own inventory.
According to the carrier, the arrangement allows it to plug its existing network into complementary partner networks and reach new origin-and-destination markets without putting another aircraft into service, while keeping its own operation simple and focused.
Tigerair Taiwan operates A320neo aircraft, according to the source material.
