Tesla Pushes Roadster 2 Reveal to Oct. 15, Citing Severe Weather

The company said it had been tracking conditions closely with local meteorologists, and that the predicted severe weather left it no choice. In a post on X, Tesla called the decision to reschedule difficult and noted that the event "can only be held outdoors."

That outdoor requirement is tied to what Tesla intends to show: the car flying in some capacity, using cold gas thrusters sourced from SpaceX that the automaker has been working to integrate into the vehicle.

The new date of October 15 follows a long string of postponements for the reveal. Before landing on the October 1 slot, CEO Elon Musk had pushed the event out by months at a time.

At one stage, Musk planned to stage the reveal on April Fools' Day this year. Speaking at Tesla's 2025 annual meeting — the same gathering at which he was awarded a $1 trillion pay package — he said the April 1 date would give him "some deniability" should it slip once more.

"Like, I could say I was just kidding," Musk said at the time.
