Target Beauty Studio Draws First-Time Retail Brands
Target's new beauty section, launching Sept. 10, will feature over 1,600 products from 90 brands, with many new to the retailer and some making their retail debut.
Starting Sept. 10, Target will open its Beauty Studio section in more than 600 stores and on its website, the company announced Wednesday. The dedicated department will carry upwards of 1,600 products spanning skin care, makeup, hair care, fragrance, bath and body, and nails.
More than two-thirds of the 90 brands featured are new to Target. Among the names are skin-care labels Eqqualberry and First Aid Beauty, hair-care brands Joico and Nioxin, Mexican beauty brand Sarelly, and French nail-care label Manacurist.
Several brands said the Beauty Studio's curated, experiential format convinced them to sell to Target for the first time. For some, it marks their first entry into physical retail entirely.
Founders noted they had to supply Target with employee training materials, such as videos and product documents, as part of the onboarding process.
The launch is Target's latest move to refresh its assortment and shopping experience, hoping to drive a return to long-term financial growth.
