Stride Consumer Partners Closes Oversubscribed $550M Second Fund
Stride Consumer Partners has closed its second fund at $550 million, an oversubscribed raise that landed at its hard cap and came in 30% larger than the firm's 2022 debut vehicle.
The investment firm, which manages roughly $1.3 billion in assets, said the new pool of capital was wrapped up in about four months. The close came in at its hard cap, with demand exceeding the amount Stride had been seeking.
The fund is 30% bigger than Stride's first vehicle, which closed in 2022 at $420 million against an original target of $300 million. The firm attributed the bulk of the new commitments to existing limited partners who increased their allocations, rather than to a wave of first-time backers.
Stride's portfolio includes the beauty and personal care names Odele, Crown Affair, Skinfix, Patrick Ta and Peachy. The firm invests across four consumer categories: beauty and personal care, food and beverage, active lifestyle and multi-unit services.
The close adds to a run of consumer-focused fundraising this year. Bansk Group has raised a $1.45 billion second fund, CAVU Consumer Partners closed a $325 million fifth fund, Forward Consumer Partners brought in $500 million for its second fund and Topspin Consumer Partners closed a $328 million third fund.
Founding partners Tim Burke, Juan Marcos Hill and Steven Berg recalled a starkly different roadshow in 2022, when pandemic precautions kept investors from holding indoor meetings. The three rented a sprinter van and drove 4,400 miles through the Midwest and along the East Coast, pitching in parking lots and backyards. Burke noted that this time, the van was not required.
