Rivian CFO Claire McDonough Steps Down to Join GE Vernova
Rivian's chief financial officer, Claire McDonough, will resign on October 30 to become CFO at GE Vernova, the company said in a Thursday filing. Derek Mulvey will serve as interim CFO while a replacement is sought.
Claire McDonough will step down as Rivian's chief financial officer on October 30, according to a regulatory filing made Thursday. The company said she is leaving to pursue a new opportunity and relocate to the East Coast to be closer to her family.
McDonough has been appointed CFO at Massachusetts-based GE Vernova, an energy equipment manufacturer, according to that company and McDonough's own LinkedIn post. Rivian emphasized that her resignation is not the result of any disagreement.
The EV maker has already begun searching for a permanent successor. Derek Mulvey, vice president of finance, will take over as interim CFO once McDonough departs.
McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, succeeding Ryan Green during a turbulent period. At the time, the then-private company was investing billions to bring its R1T truck, R1S SUV, and a commercial delivery van to market while facing production delays, rising costs, and supply chain constraints.
Her exit comes as Rivian works to scale production and sales of its R2 SUV, which began shipping to customers this summer.
