Nvidia-Backed Lambda Seeks Up to $4B at $14.5B Valuation Ahead of 2027 IPO

The Nvidia-backed cloud provider Lambda is raising up to $4 billion at a $14.5 billion pre-money valuation, with Coatue Management and Blackstone leading what could be its final private round before a planned 2027 listing.

Coatue Management and Blackstone are leading the round, which the company has framed as potentially its last private fundraising before it pursues a public listing in 2027.

A letter to investors shows Lambda's backlog climbing sharply, from $15 billion in June to $50 billion in September. The bulk of that gain traces to a single $35 billion commitment from Anthropic, which signed a deal with Lambda in late August.

That concentration means the company's valuation, which has risen considerably since its 2025 funding round, rests heavily on Anthropic's ability to keep paying. Even so, reliable GPU capacity remains scarce, and investors continue to back providers that can supply it, particularly those holding large contracts with a major AI lab.

For Lambda and other neoclouds, demand is less of an issue than the cost of serving it. Data center buildouts are largely debt-funded, and Lambda raised an additional $1 billion in debt last week as lenders grow more selective about whom they finance and on what terms.

Raising now is expected to shape the pricing of Lambda's eventual IPO while giving the company more capital ahead of the scrutiny that comes with public markets.
