Nina Park, Makeup Artist to Emma Stone and Zoë Kravitz, Moves Toward Launching Her Own Beauty Brand
Celebrity makeup artist Nina Park, whose clients include Emma Stone, Zoë Kravitz and Greta Lee, is preparing a beauty brand of her own, signaled by a string of trademark filings and a Korean-language interview about her product plans.
Filings point to a line spanning color cosmetics and tools. An Oct. 5 application by Nina Park Beauty LLC covers the Nina Park name for cosmetics, makeup brushes and bags for carrying makeup and toiletries, while an earlier filing from December 2022 covers cosmetics under the same name. A separate January application seeks protection for Lipshadow.
Park outlined her intentions in a January interview with Vogue Korea, saying she wants to build the products she has long wished she had in her kit and is drawn to multipurpose formats that suit her restrained approach to makeup. She named softly tinted lip products, lightweight eye makeup and complexion enhancers as areas of interest.
"I want to tell my story through my makeup line," she said, according to a translation of the Korean-language interview. "I want to create products that reflect deep thought and consideration."
Her reputation rests on a blurred, softened lip look that has become a signature for Oscar winners and prominent young actresses. In March, The New York Times described her as the "new arbiter" of no-makeup makeup.
Makeup artists launching their own lines is a well-worn path in beauty, with Nars, Kevyn Aucoin Beauty, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown among the established examples. A newer generation has landed at Sephora, including Hung Vanngo Beauty, KJH.Brand, Danessa Myricks Beauty, Patrick Ta Beauty, M.Ph, Fara Homidi, Makeup by Mario, Ciele Cosmetics, Isamaya and Westman Atelier.
