Mithridate Reworks 1980s London Club Culture for Spring/Summer 2027 Runway

Guangzhou-founded label Mithridate used its London Fashion Week showing to unveil a spring/summer 2027 collection built on the British capital's 1980s club scene, as the brand pursues expansion in Europe.

British creative director Daniel Fletcher designed the collection, which draws its references from London's club culture of the 1980s rather than the broader British tailoring language the brand has worked with before. The shift narrows the focus from a general British aesthetic to a specific slice of the city's cultural history.

Fletcher has described Mithridate as a brand inspired by British heritage and infused with Chinese craftsmanship, a framing that ties directly to the label's Guangzhou origins and its Chinese manufacturing base. The club-inspired direction pushes further into British territory while the brand's production identity stays rooted in China.

The design brief carries a commercial purpose: giving Mithridate a London edge as it looks to open new markets across Europe. London Fashion Week serves as the brand's introduction to international press and buyers, though the showing is described as an introduction rather than an established foothold.

A central task for Mithridate is shaping these London references into a recognisable brand identity that also accommodates its Guangzhou roots. Fletcher's London touchpoints connect to his own life and work, adding a personal dimension to the collection's cultural sourcing.

Fletcher has also stressed the importance of physical retail, saying customers need to handle garments, try them on and assess their quality in person.
