Michael Lau and Carhartt WIP Launch Second Capsule, Flowers: Serendipity

Hong Kong artist Michael Lau, known as the 'Godfather of Designer Toys,' has released his second collaboration with Carhartt WIP, a capsule called Flowers: Serendipity that celebrates the beauty of ordinary urban moments.

The new collection, Flowers: Serendipity, marks the second partnership between the Hong Kong-based artist and the workwear-inspired label. It applies Lau's hand-drawn flower characters to silhouettes including the OG Detroit Jacket, a jersey crewneck, baseball cap and T-shirts, with detailed embroidery and graphic treatments.

Lau, widely celebrated as the 'Godfather of Designer Toys,' drew inspiration from the contrasts of Hong Kong's urban landscape—its chipped paint, flower stalls wedged between glass towers, and neon reflections on rain-soaked streets. The capsule extends his view that beauty can be found in the ordinary.

Working alongside his wife and creative partner, Florance Yip, Lau aims to protect the creative freedom that lets his ideas flourish. The collaboration with Carhartt WIP, a label rooted in workwear but embedded in global subcultures including art, skateboarding and music, is another canvas for that vision.

At its heart, Flowers: Serendipity carries a simple proposition: happiness and hope don't require an ideal setting. An ordinary street corner, the collection suggests, can become an inner garden if seen from the right perspective.
