L’Oréal Q3 sales rise 7.7% to $39.6B, led by professional and dermatological beauty

L’Oréal Groupe reported a 7.7% increase in third-quarter sales to $39.6 billion, with CEO Nicolas Hieronimus pointing to innovation-driven gains in hair care, fragrances and skin care. Professional products and dermatological beauty posted the strongest divisional growth.

Growth was strongest in SAPMENA–SSA—the region covering South Asia Pacific, the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa—which rose 21%. North Asia, driven primarily by China, increased 14.1%, followed by Europe at 13.2% and North America at 6%. Latin America declined 3%.

By division, professional products led with 19.1% reported growth, ahead of dermatological beauty at 15.7% and the Luxe division at 12.3%. The mass category grew 7.5%.

On Thursday’s investor call, Hieronimus said the group outperformed the market across most categories, divisions and regions. He credited the company’s innovation plan with continued gains in hair care and fragrances and said skin care was outperforming after a disappointing prior year.

The third quarter ended Sept. 30. The results point to broad momentum across most of L’Oréal’s geographic footprint, with Latin America the main exception.
