LEMAIRE Moves Beyond Clothing With 'Gathering Plates' Porcelain Project in China
The Parisian fashion house is launching a series of artist collaborations centred on objects for daily life, beginning with Gathering Plates, a porcelain project for Fall/Winter 2026 that will appear in its China stores.
The first instalment, titled Gathering Plates, pairs Chengdu-based photographer and painter AiHeMei, also known as Xu Jing, with ceramic artist Li Qing. The result is a set of porcelain plates conceived as functional objects rather than display pieces.
The project has been selected for presentation at LEMAIRE's Wukang boutique in Shanghai, as well as at its Beijing and Chengdu locations, tying the release directly to the Chinese market for the Fall/Winter 2026 season.
The initiative marks a widening of the house's remit. Founded by Christophe Lemaire in 1991 and now led by Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran, the label built its reputation on soft tailoring, a muted palette, bags and clothing designed to be worn, layered and lived in over time.
That longstanding interest in craftsmanship and everyday function is what makes tableware a coherent addition to the brand's universe, placing the same object in a flagship boutique and in a customer's home.
LEMAIRE has framed the collaboration series around objects for everyday life, with Gathering Plates serving as its opening chapter.
