Groupe ADP Hands Carrefour Eight-Year Deal for Nine Paris Airport Convenience Stores

Carrefour has won an eight-year contract to run nine convenience food stores at Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly airports under its Carrefour City banner, following a competitive tender.

Six of the outlets will be located at Paris Charles de Gaulle, including two new units in Terminal 2, while the remaining three will sit at Paris Orly. The award extends an existing partnership between the French retailer and airport operator Groupe ADP.

All nine stores will trade under the Carrefour City brand and will roll out a new airport-specific format called Carrefour City Renew, positioned under the slogan "Get a taste of Parisian life". The first site to adopt the concept will be at Roissypôle, the train station serving CDG.

According to Groupe ADP, the stores are designed around convenience, quality and quick service. They will carry a widened food and beverage range, larger snack areas and a distinct product line, supported by a fully equipped kitchen installed at the airport that will allow freshly prepared items such as salads and cut fruit to be made daily.

Opening hours will also be stretched, with the stores trading from 6am to 11pm seven days a week.

Groupe ADP said the tie-up cements Carrefour Proximité France's position as a significant player in travel retail and represents a further step in building a local food offer suited to the millions of passengers passing through the two Paris airports each year, as well as the large workforce based at both sites. For the airport group, the deal broadens its retail mix.

Nine stores in total fall under the agreement: six at CDG and three at Orly.
