Gap Beauty launches Bliss gourmand holiday fragrance and first body-care line

Gap Beauty has launched Bliss, a limited-edition holiday fragrance built on gourmand notes, with matching hand cream and body lotion marking its first body-care range. The collection arrives ahead of the holiday gifting season, with prices from $15 to $52.

Bliss, which launched Thursday, centers on butterscotch, cocoa bean and vanilla bourbon. It was developed by Dsm-Firmenich perfumer Honorine Blanc, who worked with Nicole Mancini on Gap Beauty's debut fragrance collection this summer.

The lineup includes a 50-milliliter eau de parfum, a 10-milliliter travel size, a scented hand cream and a body lotion. The body-care items are a first for Gap Beauty. Retail prices range from $15 for the hand cream to $52 for the full-size eau de parfum.

Gap Beauty returned to the category in July with updated versions of 1990s fragrances including Grass and Dream. The holiday launch takes cues from present-day trends rather than the archive.

Deb Redmond, head of beauty at Gap Inc., said the summer collection was about defining what Gap Beauty is today, while the holiday assortment is designed around gifting. She said each item should feel suitable to give or keep.

Redmond compared Bliss with Gap's CashSoft fabric, a machine-washable material intended to mimic cashmere and a key sales driver for the brand. Gap Inc. also owns Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta.
