Fable & Mane Taps Cécile Budge as New CEO
Ayurvedic hair care label Fable & Mane has appointed Cécile Budge as chief executive, with cofounder Akash Mehta stepping out of the top role while staying involved in the brand.
Budge moves into the CEO seat from Nirvana Brands, the holding company behind Fable & Mane, where she most recently served as chief operating officer. She takes over from Akash Mehta, who launched the Indian-inspired brand with his sister Nikita Mehta in 2020.
Akash Mehta will remain involved in the business as a cofounder alongside Nikita. He said his priority is protecting "the heartbeat" of Fable & Mane — its community, creativity and the story behind why it exists — and described Budge as a strong complement to that work.
Budge said she was "excited and privileged" to join the team and to be part of the journey with Akash and Nikita, calling Fable & Mane a brand "with great depth." Her stated focus is to build on the brand's positioning and relevance in order to reach new audiences globally and accelerate growth.
Nirvana Brands is owned by Dilesh Mehta, father of Akash and Nikita Mehta. He also owns the French fashion house Patou, which LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton sold back to him this summer, as well as Designer Parfums.
