DoorDash Adds Macy's, Anthropologie, Vans and Other Retailers, Plus Returns Pickup and Text Assistant
DoorDash has widened its retail marketplace with five apparel and footwear brands and rolled out new shopping tools, including a returns pickup service and an AI-powered texting assistant, as it pushes to become a one-stop marketplace.
The delivery platform added Macy's, Anthropologie, The North Face, Vans and Timberland to its retail marketplace in a single week, deepening its reach into apparel and footwear alongside its existing restaurant and grocery offerings.
Alongside the retail additions, DoorDash is launching Dasher Returns, a service that arranges a DoorDash pickup to handle item returns, aimed at easing the hassle customers face when sending purchases back.
The company also unveiled several AI-driven updates. Text DoorDash expands Ask DoorDash, the in-app assistant, into a conversational tool meant to help shoppers browse and make decisions inside the app.
The moves follow a milestone partnership with Costco announced earlier this month, a retailer the company had long ranked at the top of its wish list. DoorDash also expanded its Snap/EBT program this month, adding seven grocers to the network, including regional chains Albertsons Market, Amigos and Boyer's Food Markets.
Mike Goldblatt, vice president of enterprise partnerships at DoorDash, said the retail and technology expansions form part of a continued effort to move beyond restaurant delivery.
The company frames the strategy as building a "mall in your pocket," with the new partnerships and tools intended to reduce the friction of browsing and decision-making in online shopping.
