Dermatologist Sheila Farhang Debuts Dose of Derm With $68 Skincare-Infused Foundation

Dermatologist Sheila Farhang has launched Dose of Derm, a color cosmetics brand starting with a single $68 foundation that combines buildable coverage with mineral SPF 45 and longevity ingredients. The line arrives as dermatologist-founded brands remain largely focused on skincare rather than makeup.

The debut product is the All-in-One Clinical Foundation, priced at $68 and offered in six shades. It carries mineral SPF 45 and a so-called TriBiome Longevity Complex built around peptides, plant-derived exosomes and postbiotics, alongside hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.

Farhang, who practices at Avant Dermatology & Aesthetics, said the formula is designed to deliver genuine coverage for concerns such as acne scars and melasma rather than the lighter effects of tinted sunscreens. She has dealt with melasma herself since giving birth 17 months ago.

Patients at her practice regularly ask which foundation she recommends, but she said she struggled to find one that offered the coverage they wanted without working against the skin treatments she prescribes. That gap prompted her to develop her own product.

"We're talking true makeup here that has buildable coverage that will actually cover your acne scars, your melasma that's showing up," Farhang said. She described makeup and skincare as a continuum rather than separate steps, noting that a makeup product can sit on the face for 12 hours.

The launch places Dose of Derm in a category where dermatologist-founded labels have mostly concentrated on skincare. Foundation hybrids promising skincare benefits are already established at beauty retail, with brands including Hourglass, Ilia, Ciele and Westman Atelier offering such products.
