Delta Delays Atlanta-Riyadh Launch to March 2027 After Airport Attacks
Delta Air Lines has pushed its first nonstop Atlanta-Riyadh flight from October to March 2027, citing evolving regional developments after a series of attacks on airports in Saudi Arabia.
The carrier said on Monday that the start of its nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh would be moved to March 2027, replacing the October launch date it had previously targeted.
In a statement, Delta said the decision reflected "evolving developments in the region," and that the safety and security of its customers and employees always come first and continue to guide its operational decisions.
The airline added that it remains in close contact with relevant government and aviation partners as it monitors the situation.
The postponement follows a series of attacks on airports throughout Saudi Arabia. Delta's planned Atlanta-Riyadh route had already been drawing questions about safety and demand ahead of the original October start.
Delta did not give a specific new launch date beyond March 2027, and it did not say whether the schedule would be reviewed again before then.
