Chanel Reaffirms Long-Term China Commitment as Mainland Network Tops 133 Stores
Chanel has no plans to pull back its investment in China, with CEO Leena Nair calling the market strategic and pledging continued resources for its development.
The French fashion house's mainland footprint currently stands at 133 stores, split between 20 fashion boutiques, 104 perfume and beauty outlets and nine watch and jewellery locations.
Among its most prominent projects is the rebuilt Plaza 66 space in Shanghai, expanded and redesigned with architect Peter Marino. The location now houses fashion, watches, jewellery, beauty and fragrance under one roof, alongside personalised services including Les Ateliers and Les Salons Privés.
The China push sits inside a wider physical expansion programme. Chanel opened more than 40 stores worldwide in 2025 and expects to add another 30 in 2026, comprising nine fashion stores, 16 perfume and beauty stores and five watch and jewellery stores.
Capital expenditure reached $1.449 billion in 2025. Spending on global brand promotion, including customer engagement, totalled $2.395 billion, while more than $700 million went to strengthening manufacturing and innovation capabilities.
