Barefaced Launches Rx Platform for Clinician-Guided Prescription Skin Care
Skin care brand Barefaced, founded by nurse practitioner Jordan Harper, is moving into personalized medical skin care with Barefaced Rx, a platform pairing online intake with state-licensed clinician review.
Barefaced Rx debuts Thursday, extending the brand beyond its existing product line into prescription treatment guided by clinicians. The platform is designed to address acne and breakouts, redness and inflammation, pigmentation and tone, skin aging, menopause and hormonal skin changes, targeted eye care, and body care and brightening.
Patients begin by completing an online survey that covers their skin concerns, history, current routine and goals. A clinician licensed in the patient's state then reviews the responses before prescription treatment is offered.
Harper said she first attempted to build the service in 2021, but the effort proved difficult while Barefaced was expanding quickly. She described the launch as "truly a dream" in an interview.
"From my experience as a nurse practitioner, there is a percentage of patients that are going to benefit from prescription products. Now, it's not everyone, but I do," Harper said. She added that most brands position themselves as either a prescription platform or an over-the-counter platform, while she wanted Barefaced to offer patients a solution for their skin wherever they are.
The launch places the brand in the personalized medical skin care segment, where treatment is matched to individual concerns through a clinician review rather than a single off-the-shelf routine.
