Anthropologie Opens Holiday Push With 'Love Actually'-Style Film and DoorDash Tie-In
Anthropologie's holiday campaign, launching October 19, leans on airport-reunion romance and a product mix spanning travel outfits, partywear and pajamas, backed by an expanded food range, new home collaborations and a DoorDash partnership.
The retailer's campaign centers on a mini film titled "On My Way," whose arrivals-hall scenes borrow the reunion mood familiar from "Love Actually" — the wait for someone long missed and the relief of finally meeting again. Around that emotional hook sits a merchandising push covering everything a shopper might buy on the journey: travel outfits, partywear, guest-bedroom refreshes, pajamas and last-minute hostess gifts.
The campaign goes live on October 19. Alongside the holiday wardrobe, Anthropologie is widening its food assortment, adding home collaborations and introducing a partnership with DoorDash, with the aim of capturing spending tied to the season's smaller occasions rather than only its headline celebrations.
"We know that we have a customer who loves to not only self-purchase but also look for gift-giving ideas," said Anu Narayanan, global president of women's, home and retail at Anthropologie. She said this year's focus extends to the preparations and personal moments surrounding those celebrations.
The backdrop is a sizable holiday spending pool. The National Retail Federation forecasts U.S. retail sales in November and December will rise 4.2% year over year to $1.013 trillion, excluding automobile dealers, gasoline stations and restaurants. Adobe expects online spending over the same period to climb 6.7% to $275.1 billion.
