Alaïa Opens First Brazil Boutique at Shopping Cidade Jardim in São Paulo

Maison Alaïa has opened its first store in Brazil, a boutique at Shopping Cidade Jardim in São Paulo designed with Swedish architecture studio Halleroed. The Richemont-owned French maison operates 29 stores globally.

The Paris-based luxury house said the São Paulo boutique marks its entry into the Brazilian market and forms part of a wider push to strengthen its presence in Latin America.

The store's design was developed with Halleroed, the Swedish architecture studio, and is described by the brand as reinterpreting Alaïa's visual universe through Brazil's cultural and architectural heritage. A perforated raw concrete facade frames the entrance, where accessories are displayed.

Inside, the minimalist, monochromatic layout leads shoppers from accessories to the shoe and ready-to-wear collections. Polished brass accents sit alongside South American woods — imbuia, Santos rosewood and tineo — used in the display furniture, over flooring of Brazilian black marble.

The space also incorporates vintage pieces, among them a coffee table by Brazilian designer Sergio Rodrigues and two Mollo sofas placed at the centre of the boutique.

Alaïa framed the opening as a continuation of its approach to the boutique as a place of culture and creation, bringing together fashion, architecture and decorative arts. The maison is owned by Richemont and runs 29 stores worldwide.
